From the back of the album cover:
Organized in the fall of 1964, the Plainsmen Male Chorus of Bethany Nazarene College now includes over eighty young men. They are men who are interested inlifting their voices together in spiritual melody and harmony to praise our wonderful Lord and Savior. These songs are a testimony of the deep settled peace that Christ brings to the troubled soul of man.
Members of the chorus come from twenty states and Canada. They are admitted to the choir upon tryout. Thus, in addition to some music majors, there are many other students who just like to sing. From the larger group of men, a traveling choir of thirty voices is selected each year. This "traveling group" makes many week-end appearances in churches throughout the four state educational zone. Traveling about 2,000 miles in the annual spring tour, the Plainsmen present approximately twelve sacred services prayerfully believing that Christ might be a reality in the hearts of all who listen. The activities of the eighty member choir include appearances in the Homecoming Sacred Concert, the annual Spring Concert, and various church, chapel, and public school programs.
The choir is under the direction of Professor N. James Main, a man truly dedicated to Jesus Christ. His devoted life is an inspiration and challenge to each choir member. He is an associate professor of music in the Division of Fine Arts. A graduate of Central College in Pella, Iowa, he received his masters from the State College of Iowa, and has completed work toward his doctorate at the University of Oklahoma. He has directed the Plainsmen since their beginning four years ago. The accompanist for the choir, also serving since the choir began, is Mark Reighard, a senior music major from Kansas City, Kansas. Bethany Nazarene College is a four-year liberal arts college in Bethany, Oklahoma. As an institution of the Church of the Nazarene, it is dedicated to the building of "Character, Culture, and Christ." This fall (1967-1968), 1850 students from all fifty states enrolled in classes in twenty-two departments of study.
To all of the young men of Bethany Nazarene College who have participated in Plainsman Male Chorus during the past four years this album is dedicated. It is the prayer of my heart that the songs will provide lasting memories of the many wonderful times we have shared together. Made the message of each song always strike a responsive cord in your heart, and may God use you through this album to inspire and bless all who will listen.
May the LORD be your never-failing LIGHT as you travel ALONG THE ROAD OF LIFE. Although WITHOUT HIM failure is certain, may His grace enable you to be a TRUEHEARTED, WHOLEHEARTED SOLDIER OF THE CROSS. May he TOUCH you each time you need help and may you be YIELDED FULLY TO HIM, live NEAR THE CROSS and someday inherit ETERNAL LIFE. Sincerely, Prof. Main
